Merceries a Gal·les i Feliç 2017!

Hola! 
Molt bon any 2017!

Vaig comentar en aquesta entrada que la primera setmana de desembre 
vam fer una escapada a Gal·les i Anglaterra per visitar a la família i fer una mica de turisme.
A part de complir amb l'objectiu del viatge, també vam tenir temps per a visitar 
la preciosa merceria “Guthrie & Ghani” de Birmingham! J 

Però a més, al llarg de la ruta des del nord de Gal·les fins a Birmingham 
ens vam trobar diferents merceries que em va agradar fotografiar i aquí us les ensenyo... ;-)

I avui que és 1 de gener, espero que hàgiu tingut una molt bona entrada a l’any 2017 
i que el nou any que comencem vingui carregat d’imaginació i creativitat!

I desitjo continuar-vos veient per la blogesfera!

Happy New Year 2017!

As I mentioned in this post, at the beginning of December 
we did a trip to Wales and England to visit family and do a little of tourism. 
Apart of fulfillung the purpose of the trip, we also had some time to visit 
the lovely haberdashery "Guthrie & Ghani" in Birmingham! J 

And, on the way down to Birmingham from the North of Wales, 
we found a couple of little and cute haberdasheries where we stopped and took a picture...

And today, January 1st, I wish you all the best for the upcoming 2017!
I hope this new year come loaded with imagination and creativity!
And, I hope to see you around in the blogosphere!

Primera parada/First stop:
CAERNARFON

Petit poble coster amb un impressionant castell medieval molt important per la història i el govern de Gal·les
i just al davant del castell, al Palace Street hi havia aquesta petita merceria.

Small coastal village with an impressive medieval caslte which was very important for the history and government of Wales. Opposite to the castle, in Palace Street there was this little haberdashery.

Hola!

La setmana passada vam aprofitar el súper pont per fer una escapada a Anglaterra i Gal·les
per visitar la família i fer una mica de turisme.

Com que estàvem en un poblet a prop de Birmingham,
era obligatori parar a la bonica i preciosa merceria de la Lauren “Guthrie and Ghani”.

Tenia moltíssimes ganes d’anar-hi i veure-la en directe! J

Segueixo a la Lauren des dels seus inicis i he seguit l’evolució de la seva botiga
fins a convertir-se en el que és ara: un somni per tota costurera.
Ella no hi era perquè està de baixa per maternitat però les noies que l’ajuden són també un encant.

No em vaig poder aguantar de demanar a veure si podia fer algunes fotos. És tant maca! 

M’ho quedaria tot! Al final em vaig comprar dos retalls de tela amb motius nadalencs JJ

Aix... Com m’agradaria que estigués a prop de casa!

Si algun dia teniu la oportunitat, no deixeu d’anar-hi!

Hello!

Last week we visited England and Wales to visit family and to do a little of countryside sightseeing.

As we were in a village near Birmingham, it was compulsory to stop by 
the beautiful and lovely Lauren’s haberdashery "Guthrie & Ghani”. 

I wanted to stop by for a long time! I follow Lauren since her beginnings, the Sewing Bee, 
the restoration and the evolution of her shop till to become what it is now: a dream for any sewists. 
She wasn't there because she is on maternity leave but the girls who help her are also very charming.

I couldn't help ask her if I could take some pictures. It's really beautiful! I like it all! 
At the end I bought two pieces of fabric with Christmas themes.

I wish it were closer to home! :-)
If you have the opportunity, I really reccomend to stop by.
You will love it!

Stockholm i mitjons de Nadal

Quina relació hi ha entre Stockholm i el Nadal?
Doncs passejant per Stockholm sense intenció de buscar cap botiga de teles em vaig trobar amb una botiga de decoració que al fons, ben al fons de la botiga, tenien tot de teles de Nadal, i mira que encara no era època nadalenca!
Així que fent-hi una ullada ràpida, vaig veure aquesta roba tant típica d'allà i tant adequada per aquestes festes,
que me'n vaig comprar un retall sense tenir cap previsió de projecte.
I ara, un tros s'ha convertit en part d'un mitjó de Nadal.

Which is the relationship between Stockholm and Christmas?
Walking randomly around Stockholm I found a home decor store and hidden in the back of the shop, 
I found some Christmas fabrics even it was not Christmas time yet! 
So making it a quick glance, I liked this one, typical from Stockholm and perfect for Christmas 
that I decided to buy a little piece without any project in mind. 
However, it has become part of a Christmas stocking.

És d'una botiga que és diu Znogg, al barri medieval de la ciutat.

I aquí els dos mitjons. 

El mitjó vermell és el que em quedava pendent per acabar (aquí).

Els hi he fet un cor amb una puntada decorativa tot i que no s'apreciï gaire a les fotos.

The red one is the unfinished one that I mentioned here.

Not sure If you can appreciate properly in the pictures but I drew a heart with a decorative stitch on them.

Nara, Japó

Des de Nara, una bonica ciutat del Japó, la meva germana m'ha portat aquests dos llibres i aquests retalls.

M'ha agradat molt que hagi pensat en mi i en les meves aficions.

Els retalls a punt per fer-los servir

From Nara, a beautiful city in Japan, my sister brought me these two books and these fabric scraps. 

I really appreciated that she thought of me and my hobbies.

The books are written in Japanese and I have no idea, luckily there are a lot of pictures to follow step by step all the instructions and the numbers are the same as my native language.

Madrid

Si tens l'oportunitat de passejar-te per Madrid, no et perdis la zona de Pontejos (Plaza Pontejos, Calle Marqués Viudo de Pontejos, Calle Esparteros…), just al darrere de Sol. Aquí trobaràs mil i una botiga de teixits i merceries, el que no trobes a Pontejos, no ho trobes enlloc. Impossible marxar sense caure en la temptació! Algunes botigues ja han celebrat el centenari i es conserven igual que als seus inicis. És molt curiós de veure, una manera diferent de visitar Madrid! 

I una mica més enllà, hi ha dues botigues que són encantadores, es tracten de Black Oveja i Sweet Sixteen Craft Store, plenes de llanes, fils i robes, i si vius per la zona, aprofita els seus tallers i monogràfics!

If you have the opportunity to visit Madrid and you are a craft lover, I really recommend you getting lost in Pontejos area (Plaza Pontejos, Calle Marqués Viudo de Pontejos, Calle Esparteros…). It’s just behind Plaza del Sol, in the city center of Madrid. Here, you can find all the sewing material that you might need for your creations and you can choose your fabric from a variety of hundreds of different types. It’s impossible not to leave without buying anything, this happened to me! :)

It was my first time there and I was really impressed. Some of these stores are more than a hundred years old! It seems that time stopped at the beginning of the XX century. They have been at the same place for a long time and they preserve the same furniture and decorations. It’s a different way to visit Madrid!

A little far from Plaza del Sol, you can find two more crafty stores: Black Oveja and Sweet Sixteen Craft Store. They are really cute and their material is really nice. And if you live in Madrid or nearby, it might interest you because they organize courses and workshops!

I bought these two types of fabrics. I already have a few ideas for use them, so, we’ll see…!

I took some pictures of the stores, but It was Saturday afternoon and they were closed. Fortunately, I could stop by on Monday morning before going to the airport. :)
